Solution17 Art for Climate Change to kick-off event for the 5th Global Entreps Awards (UNGA75 - NYC), with 8th UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon

On September 25, 2020, the 8th UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will deliver Opening Keynote Address to kick-off the 5th Global Entreps Awards and 5Gcitizens International series with ‘Solution17 Art for Climate Change’ during the 75th United Nations General Assembly in partnership with Creative Youth Community Development Initiative (CYCDI) and UN75.

 

CYCDI in partnership with the Belgium based International Board of Global Actors for Sustainable Business (Entreps) have agreed to jointly open the 5th Global Entreps Awards commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations with the virtual Launch and Exhibition of ‘Art for Climate Change’.

The 5th Global Entreps Awards runs over 5 months (25th September 2020 to 31st January 2021), by organising again 1) a unique Entreps Awards Gala with 512 best practices coming from 195 countries competing, 2) the International Congress called 5Gcitizens, including targeted activities coming from 5 continents. 

Covering topics such as the UN SDGs, Good Governance, the Digital Industry, Sustainable Businesses and Public-private-partnerships, Entreps has become the global reference identifying best practitioners implementing the UN SDGs. The Congress and Awards are co-organised hand in hand with our Global Jurors (1,000 members of the Jury from 126 countries), Best Practitioners, the UN75 and other international partners.

Art for Climate Change was designed to promote Global Movement Against Climate Crisis and the SDGs, each work of art with their SDG representation will showcase the problem, effect, solution and impact of the Climate Action Enterprises created by the Finalists of Solution17 for Climate Action in Covenant University (C.A.C.U).

The art project is part of C.A.C.U; birthed to spark creativities among young people in building the Future We Want. C.A.C.U is mobilizing academia, scholars, students, youth, corporate organisations and everyone across the world to take action to protect the environment. Our world is under threat of disease, poverty, hunger, growing inequality and CLIMATE CRISIS. It’s Time to Act, for People and for Planet.

The Art for Climate Change which began with a Virtual Art Exhibition on May 20, 2020; produced the campaign Art Piece themed ‘Lessons from #COVID19 to fight Climate Crisis; A Race We Must Win’. The work was created by Solution17 Climate Change Youth Activist – Anjola Olanrewaju.

Six Climate Change Advocates (Teenagers) were nominated to cocreate the 17 MASTERPIECES on CANVAS! The artwork were produced before a live audience both virtual and physical at the Solution17 Innovation Hub from 15-19 September 2020.

The 17 Masterpieces will mark the 5th anniversary of the adoption of Sustainable Development Goals, the universal plan to create a better world by 2030, by ending poverty, fighting inequality and addressing the urgency of climate change” stated by Foluke Michael, CEO of CYCDI.

SOLUTION 17 for SDGs is an innovative and inclusive model developed by CYCDI to engage young people to produce SDG based solutions that can be implemented locally and are relevant to tackling problems that will clearly accelerate the achievement of the Global Goals by 2030.
